Search for Records or Transactions
The Search button provides
basic options to search for a record or transaction.
In the Home window, the Search
button also provides advanced search options that can find very specific information
about a record or transaction. (Sage 50 Premium Accounting)
To search for a record
- In the Home window or any icon
window or record window,
click Search.
- In the Search window,
select the type of record you want to look for from the list (for example, Accounts).
- Type the name of the record you want to find in the Search box.
If you are looking for Accounts, you can search either by Name or Number.
If you are looking for Inventory and Service Items, you can search by Number or Description.
- When the record
is highlighted in the list below the Search box, click
OK to view it.
To search for a transaction

Open the Search window either by:
- Clicking Search in the Home window and selecting the type of transaction you want to search for from the list or
- Opening the transaction window associated with the type of transaction you want to look up (for example, Sales Invoices) and clicking or next to the source number box.
- Right-clicking on an icon and selecting the Find option.
- (Optional) Fill in any information you want to include in order to shorten the results list (for example, a Start date for the search).
- Click OK.
- (Optional) Sort
the results in ascending or descending order, by selecting a sort option
in the View by list, and then clicking
the Sort button.
- Double-click the transaction, or select it and then click Select.
- (Optional) To print the transaction, click Print .
To search on the Advanced tab
- In the Home window,
click Search, and then select
the Advanced tab.
- Select the record
or transaction type from the list.
If
you are working with a consolidated company, you can only look up account
records and general journal entries.
- Select the Field and Matching criteria
that you want to find.
- Type a Value.
- (Optional) To make
your search more specific, select:one of the following buttons, and then
fill in the Additional Search Filters.
- And
to include only the records that match the criteria on that line and the
next
- Or
to include records that meet one or both criteria
- (Optional) Customize
the:
- Click OK
to display a report of the search results. Double-clicking on the results drills down
into an item, opening the record or original transaction.
To search for an order or quote (Sage 50 Quantum Accounting)
- Open the Search window either by:
- Opening the transaction window associated with the type of transaction you want to look up (for example, Sales or Purchase Orders) and clicking next to the source number box.
- Opening the specific module (for example, Vendors & Purchases) and right-clicking on the Quotes or Orders icon and selecting the Find option.
- Use the Show options to shorten the results list (for example, Uninvoiced or Invoiced transactions).
- (Optional) Sort
the results in ascending or descending order, by selecting a sort option
in the View by list, and then clicking
the Sort button.
- Double-click the transaction, or select it and then click Select..
To search for a paycheque
- Open the Search window either by:
- Opening the Paycheques window and clicking next to the source number box.
- Opening the Employees & Payroll module and right-clicking on the Paycheques icon and selecting the Find option.
- (Optional) Fill in any information you want to include in order to shorten the results list (for example, a Start date for the search).
- Use the Show options to shorten the results list (for example, Employee or Amount).
- (Optional) Sort
the results in ascending or descending order, by selecting a sort option
in the View by list, and then clicking
the Sort button.
- Double-click the transaction, or select it and then click Select..
Note: If you are adjusting a paycheque that was processed in Sage 50 Accounting 2013 or a future version, the YTD values shown are the YTD amounts at the time the paycheque was processed.
