Add, Modify or Remove Password

Note:  The system administrator's (sysadmin) password cannot be removed if other users have been set up.

If you are a sysadmin user, you can:

Before you can perform this task

Create a password for sysadmin

  1. In the Home window on the Setup menu, choose Set Up Users & Roles.
  2. From the list, select Sysadmin and click Modify User.
  3. In the Enter Password box, type a password up to seven characters long. Both letters and numbers may be used.
  4. In the Re-enter Password box, verify your password by retyping it.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click Close.

Create a password for a user

  1. In the Home window on the Setup menu, choose Set Up Users & Roles.
  2. In the Enter Password window, type your current password and click OK.
  3. Select a user from the list and click Modify User.
  4. In the Enter Password box, type a new password up to seven characters long. Both letters and numbers may be used.
  5. In the Re-enter Password box, verify your password by retyping it.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click Close.

Modify a password

  1. In the Home window on the Setup menu, choose Set Up Users & Roles.
  2. In the Enter Password window, type your current password and click OK.
  3. From the list, select a user whose password you want to modify, and click Modify User.
  4. In the Enter Password box, type the new password up to seven characters long. Both letters and numbers may be used.
  5. In the Re-enter Password box, verify your password by retyping it.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click Close.

Remove a password

  1. In the Home window on the Setup menu, choose Set Up Users & Roles.
  2. In the Enter Password window, type your current password and click OK.
  3. Select a user from the list and click Modify User.
  4. In the Enter Password box, press the BACKSPACE key.
  5. In the Re-enter Password box, press the BACKSPACE key.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click Close.

If you are a user other than sysadmin, you can:

Change your password

  1. In the Home window on the Setup menu, choose Change Password.
  2. In the Enter Password window, enter your current password.
  3. In the Set Up User window, in the Enter Password box, type a new password up to seven characters long. Both letters and numbers may be used.
  4. In the Re-enter Password box, verify your password by retyping it.
  5. Click OK.
