Create a Vendor Record

Note:  Payroll authorities and other organizations you remit taxes or payments are entered in the program as vendors.

To create a vendor record

  1. Open the Vendor Records window. How?
      1. In the Home window, click Vendors & Purchases on the navigation pane.
      2. In the Tasks pane, right-click the Vendors icon and select Add Vendor from the menu.
  2. Type the vendor's name in the Vendor box.
  3. Click Save and Close.

Other ways to create a vendor record  

To create a payroll authority record

  1. Open the Vendor Records window. How?
      1. In the Home window, click Vendors & Purchases on the navigation pane.
      2. In the Tasks pane, right-click the Vendors icon and select Add Vendor from the menu.
  2. Type the vendor's name in the Vendor box.
  3. Select the Payroll Authority check box.
  4. On the Taxes tab, in the Tax Exempt column, click to enter Yes beside all sales taxes. Do not enter information in any of the other boxes on the Taxes tab.
  5. Click Save and Close.
  6.  Link the payroll authority to the payroll liability accounts for which you will remit payments.

To create a contractor record (Enterprise)

  1. Open the Vendor Records window. How?
      1. In the Home window, click Vendors & Purchases on the navigation pane.
      2. In the Tasks pane, right-click the Vendors icon and select Add Vendor from the menu.
  2. Type the vendor's name in the Vendor box.
  3. Select the Contractor (Time & Billing) check box.
  4. If you want to print T5018 slips for this contractor, select Include this Vendor When Filing T5018 Slips.
  5. Click Save and Close.
