Set Up the Windows Firewall for Sage 50 Accounting

To configure your firewall to work with Sage 50 Accounting:

ClosedWindows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Small Business Server 2003

  1. Open the Windows Start menu, select Settings, Control Panel, and Windows Firewall.
  2. On the General tab, clear the Don't allow exceptions option.
  3. If Sage 50 Accounting is not in the Programs and Services list on the Exceptions tab, click Add Program. Select Sage 50 Accounting from the list and click OK.
  4. If Sage 50 Accounting does not appear in the Add a Program list, click Browse to locate Sage50Accounting.exe in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder, click Open and then OK. The default installation folder is C:\Program Files\Sage 50 [Your Product Solution] [Year].

  5. In the Programs and Services section on the Exceptions tab, select Sage 50 Accounting to allow it as an exception.
  6. If Sage 50 Accounting has already been blocked by your firewall:
  7. Click Edit... and then Change Scope...
  8. Select Any computer (including those on the Internet) and Click OK.
  9. Repeat steps 3-5 for each of the following processes:
    • Sage_SA_conv150.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder\conversion\simconv150.
    • Sage_SA_conv160.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder\conversion\simconv160.
    • Sage_SA_conv170.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder\conversion\simconv170.
    • Sage_SA_conv180.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder\conversion\simconv180.
    • Sage_SA_conv190.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder\conversion\simconv190.
    • Sage_SA_conv200.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder\conversion\simconv200.
    • Sage_SA_TST.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder\TST.
    • Sage_SA_upgradejet.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder\conversion\upgradejet.
    • SageUpgrader.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder.
    • Sage_SA_upload.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder.
    • Sage_SA_ErrorLogSubmitter.exe. Located in the LogSubmitter folder in your installation folder.
    • SimplyConnectionManager.exe. Located in C:\Program Files\Winsim\ConnectionManager.
    • Simply.SystemTrayIcon.exe. Located in C:\Program Files\Winsim\ConnectionManager.
    • Sage_SA_Policy.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder.
    • Simplyurl.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder.
    • Sage_SA_DBVerifier.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder\dbverifier.
    • mysqld-nt.exe. Located in C:\Program Files\Winsim\ConnectionManager\MySqlBinary\5.6.10\mysql.
    • mysqladmin.exe. Located in C:\Program Files\Winsim\ConnectionManager\MySqlBinary\5.6.10\mysql.
  10. Click OK.

ClosedWindows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2

  1. Open the Windows Start menu, select Control Panel, Security, Windows Firewall, and then Change Settings.
  2. On the General tab, clear the Don't allow exceptions option.
  3. If Sage 50 Accounting is not in the Programs and Services list on the Exceptions tab, click Add Program. Select Sage 50 Accounting from the list and click OK.
  4. If Sage 50 Accounting does not appear in the Add a Program list, click Browse to locate Sage50Accounting.exe in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder, click Open and then OK. The default installation folder is C:\Program Files\Sage 50 [Your Product Solution] [Year].

  5. In the Programs and Services section on the Exceptions tab, select Sage 50 Accounting to allow it as an exception.
  6. If Sage 50 Accounting has already been blocked by your firewall:
  7. Click Properties and then Change Scope...
  8. Select Any computer (including those on the Internet) and Click OK.
  9. Repeat 3-5 for each of the following processes:
    • Sage_SA_conv150.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder\conversion\simconv150.
    • Sage_SA_conv160.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder\conversion\simconv160.
    • Sage_SA_conv170.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder\conversion\simconv170.
    • Sage_SA_conv180.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder\conversion\simconv180.
    • Sage_SA_conv190.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder\conversion\simconv190.
    • Sage_SA_conv200.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder\conversion\simconv200.
    • Sage_SA_TST.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder\TST.
    • Sage_SA_upgradejet.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder\conversion\upgradejet.
    • SageUpgrader.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder.
    • Sage_SA_upload.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder.
    • Sage_SA_ErrorLogSubmitter.exe. Located in the LogSubmitter folder in your installation folder.
    • SimplyConnectionManager.exe. Located in C:\Program Files\Winsim\ConnectionManager.
    • Simply.SystemTrayIcon.exe. Located in C:\Program Files\Winsim\ConnectionManager.
    • Sage_SA_Policy.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder.
    • Simplyurl.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder.
    • Sage_SA_DBVerifier.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder\dbverifier.
    • mysqld-nt.exe. Located in C:\Program Files\Winsim\ConnectionManager\MySqlBinary\5.6.10\mysql.
    • mysqladmin.exe. Located in C:\Program Files\Winsim\ConnectionManager\MySqlBinary\5.6.10\mysql.
  10. Click OK.

ClosedWindows 7

  1. Open the Windows Start menu, select Control Panel, System and Security, Windows Firewall, and then Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall.
  2. If Sage 50 Accounting is not in the Allowed Programs and Features list, click Change Settings.
  3. Click Allow Another Program, and select Sage 50 Accounting from the list and click Add.
  4. If Sage 50 Accounting does not appear in the Add a Program list, click Browse to locate Sage50Accounting.exe in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder, click Open and then OK. The default installation folder is C:\Program Files\Sage 50 [Your Product Solution] [Year].

  5. Repeat 3-4 for each of the following processes:
    • Sage_SA_conv150.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder\conversion\simconv150.
    • Sage_SA_conv160.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder\conversion\simconv160.
    • Sage_SA_conv170.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder\conversion\simconv170.
    • Sage_SA_conv180.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder\conversion\simconv180.
    • Sage_SA_conv190.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder\conversion\simconv190.
    • Sage_SA_conv200.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder\conversion\simconv200.
    • Sage_SA_TST.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder\TST.
    • Sage_SA_upgradejet.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder\conversion\upgradejet.
    • SageUpgrader.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder.
    • Sage_SA_upload.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder.
    • Sage_SA_ErrorLogSubmitter.exe. Located in the LogSubmitter folder in your installation folder.
    • SimplyConnectionManager.exe. Located in C:\Program Files\Winsim\ConnectionManager.
    • Simply.SystemTrayIcon.exe. Located in C:\Program Files\Winsim\ConnectionManager.
    • Sage_SA_Policy.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder.
    • Simplyurl.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder.
    • Sage_SA_DBVerifier.exe. Located in your Sage 50 Accounting installation folder\dbverifier.
    • mysqld-nt.exe. Located in C:\Program Files\Winsim\ConnectionManager\MySqlBinary\5.6.10\mysql.
    • mysqladmin.exe. Located in C:\Program Files\Winsim\ConnectionManager\MySqlBinary\5.6.10\mysql.
  6. Click OK.
