Upgrade Your Data from an Earlier Version of Sage 50 Accounting
Before you can perform this task
To upgrade your data from an earlier
version of Sage 50 Accounting:
- Upgrade your data
either:
- By opening your
company data from the Select a Company window when Sage 50 Accounting starts (proceed
to step 3).
- From within Sage 50 Accounting (go to the Home window and choose Open a Company from the File
menu).
- Open the folder
that contains your old data file, select the file, and click Open. If you have a sysadmin password, enter it and click OK.
- While working through
the Upgrade Company Wizard, you can choose to make a backup copy of your
data. If you have already made a back up copy of your data, click Next, enter a new sysadmin password, and
then click Finish.
Note: If your client has the required licence, you can also upgrade existing client data to a new version of Sage 50 Accounting. (Sage 50 Accountant Edition)

If you are backing
up your data, follow these steps:
- In the Backup
File Name box, either accept the suggested file name or change it. If
you want to back up to another location, use Browse to select another
folder.
- In the Comment
box, enter a description to help you identify the backup later, when you
restore it. For example, enter Oct 14, 2008.
- Click OK.
- Click Next, enter a new sysadmin password, and then click Finish.
Your upgraded data opens automatically in the new version of Sage 50 Accounting.
