You may, if you want, use the General Journal window to enter purchases and sales. Only experienced accountants should use this procedure.
Once you enter a sale, you should click the Sales Taxes button on the General Journal window to indicate the portion of the transaction which are sales taxes and enter the appropriate tax codes.
Even if you have set up an asset or liability accounts to keep track of all of your taxes, you should still use this button to enter the appropriate tax codes for the transaction. If you fail to do so, your tax reports will be incorrect.
