Add or Remove a Component from a Bill of Materials Item

You can add or remove items that is used to build another inventory item from a bill of materials.

To add a component to an inventory item that is built from a bill of materials:

  1. Open the record for the inventory item. How?
      1. In the Home window, click Inventory & Services on the navigation pane.
      2. In the Tasks pane, right-click the Inventory & Services icon and select Modify Inventory & Services from the menu.
      3. Select an inventory or service item from the list and click OK.
  2. On the Build tab, for each component that you want to add, enter or select the Item, Unit, Description, and Quantity.
  3. Click Save and Close.

To remove a component from an inventory item that is built from a bill of materials:

  1. Open the record for the inventory item. How?
      1. In the Home window, click Inventory & Services on the navigation pane.
      2. In the Tasks pane, right-click the Inventory & Services icon and select Modify Inventory & Services from the menu.
      3. Select an inventory or service item from the list and click OK.
  2. On the Build tab, select each column of the component that you want to remove and press the Delete key. Repeat this step for each component that you want to remove.
  3. Click Save and Close.
