Enter a Sales Quote

Before you can perform this task

To enter a customer sales quote:

  1. Create a new sales quote. How?
      1. In the Home window, click Customers & Sales on the navigation pane.
      2. In the Tasks pane, right-click the Sales Quotes icon and select Create Quote from the menu.
  2. In the Customer box, select a name from the list or enter the customer name.

Note:  To enter an quote for a customer for whom you have no record, you can add the customer record "on the fly".

  1. In the Quote No. box, enter the sales quote number.
  2. Enter a Date.
  3. (Optional) Enter a Shipping Date.
  4. If this customer uses a foreign currency, in the Exchange Rate box, modify or enter a new exchange rate.
  5. (Optional) Select a Salesperson. This box will be filled in if you have assigned a salesperson to this customer's record.
  6. (Optional) Open the Ship from list and select the location from where you are selling the items. (Premium)
  7. Enter the sales information about the goods or services you are planning to sell to this customer. Other additional information you should enter in this table include:

Sales tax

Add or change the type of sales tax charged by choosing the List button in the Tax column. You can also change the type or amount of sales tax charged per item, or for the entire invoice.

An account

If you select an inventory item or service that already appears on your inventory and services list in Sage Simply Accounting, the Account (Acct) box is filled automatically. If not, select the account that will record the item's value. Usually, you select a revenue account, in the 4000 range.

(Optional) Allocation of the sales amount to a project

To allocate sales amounts to a project, click the Project Allocation toolbar button.

  1. If you want to use the same customer when you enter the next sales order, click the pushpin button next to the Customer box.
  2. When you have finished making additions or changes to the quote, select either Record or Print & Record.
